Ended up using my TV backlight on top of display cabinets instead
I originally thought I was going to put this around the back of my TV, but I ended up using it along the top of some display cabinets instead. The strip feels well made and the silicone cover gives it a much cleaner look than a normal exposed LED strip. It was basically ready to go out of the box — I just connected the wires and installed it with the adhesive backing. One thing I would definitely recommend is cleaning the surface really well before sticking it down. Even a little dust can make the adhesive less reliable. The strip is flexible enough that I could still see it working well around a TV. The remote is simple and gives me everything I need for changing colors and brightness.
Thanks for sharing a different installation idea. The CST1’s flexible silicone design works well not only behind TVs but also for accent lighting on cabinets, shelves and other indoor furniture. And your surface-prep tip is important — cleaning dust and grease before applying adhesive can make a big difference in how well it holds.
The curved sections didn’t work well with the back of my TV
I really like the finished look and the colors. The LEDs sit behind the diffusing silicone, so the light looks much cleaner than a bare LED strip. The controls and features have also been good.My only issue was installation. The three curved sections probably work great if the back of your TV is fairly flat, but mine isn't. I tried a few times and couldn't get those pieces to sit the way I wanted. In the end I stopped using the curved sections and installed it with only the straight pieces. That worked much better for my TV and I'm happy with the finished result.
Thanks for mentioning this — TV back panels can vary quite a bit between brands and models. If the back surface has raised sections, vents or an unusual shape, forcing the light into a curve can make installation more difficult. Using the straighter sections where they sit naturally is completely reasonable. Before installing, it can also help to lay out the light around the TV first and check where the housing makes good contact.
Really happy with the screen sync — just be aware it’s 60 Hz
I’ve been using this RGB backlight with my TV for a little while now and I’m really happy with it.The screen sync works well and I haven’t noticed any signal loss. The picture still looks clear, and the lighting follows what’s happening on screen nicely. It adds a lot of atmosphere for movies, TV shows and gaming without feeling too distracting. The 72 LEDs also give a pretty even glow behind the TV. I was worried it might look patchy, but the light distribution is smooth and the colors are bright without being too much. The app control has been convenient too. I can change the brightness, colors and settings from my phone without having to reach behind the TV.Installation was very easy — basically peel, stick and connect everything. The only thing I’d point out is that this setup is 60 Hz, not 120 Hz. That hasn’t been a problem for me, but if you specifically need 120 Hz support, it’s something to check before ordering.Overall, it’s been a really nice upgrade to my TV setup.
Thanks for sharing the details, especially your note about the refresh rate. For customers comparing TV sync lighting systems, it’s important to check the supported HDMI resolution and refresh rate before ordering, particularly if the TV or gaming console is being used at 120 Hz.We’re glad to hear the screen sync, app control and light distribution have been working well for your setup.
